Amber and Jimmy have the best wedding date ever! The new husband and wife were married on January 1, 2011. That’s 1-1-11! Their wedding was at St Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Simpsonville, SC. They decided to get married in Greenville because the city had served as their halfway meeting point between Jimmy in medical school at UGA and Amber in grad school at USC. The couple were introduced by one of their friends from their undergraduate years at Clemson. Amber was a star soccer player for Clemson. Jimmy “The Diesel” Hotz is also super competitive and they are a good match for each other. Jimmy’s sports analogies shone through when during the ceremony the priest read one of Jimmy’s letters from premarital counseling. In the letter Jimmy described the love he feels for Amber, writing “Amber is my first round draft pick.”
Their reception was absolutely incredible. The venue was great, but the people attending really made it special. The fact that it was a very wet and rainy first day of 2011 did not dampen the spirits of Jimmy, Amber or their large wedding party. 12 groomsmen and 9 bridesmaids danced at the Westin-Poinsett Hotel in downtown Greenville, SC for over five hours straight! Ashley and I have never seen such a wild and fun crowd at any wedding we have filmed or attended. Jimmy’s last name is Hotz and Amber’s last name was Funk. I loved that this was the Hotz Funk wedding. It really fit with the spirit of the night. For example, the final song of the evening was “Hot, Hot, Hot!” by Buster Poindexter. This is a song that is well known as the ultimate Caribbean cruise boat dance tune. Amber started a conga line that snaked through the entire Palmetto Ballroom, went into the mezzanine and collected everyone who attended the reception. Instead of, “I’m feelin’ hot, hot, hot!” They all sang, “I’m feelin’ Hotz, Hotz, Hotz!”
Ashley and I were joined by Marissa and Davey of Davey Morgan Photography. They did a great job! You can see their photos from the Hotz Funk wedding here: http://daveymorgan.com/blog/?
