Matthew and Molly were married in one of the most beautiful outdoor locations outside Atlanta in Newnan, GA. Flowers and autumnal decorations were all perfect. Gourdes, yellow-orange-red turning leaves, elegant table displays all were fantastic complements to the big day. The ceremony was outside in an amphitheater with great acoustics. The 5pm services was Replete with a bagpiper playing a personal favorite, Highland Cathedral. There was a string quartet and of course the large, sharply dressed wedding party. Dunaway Gardens was established by famous stage actress Hetty Jane Dunaway on what was then her husband Wayne P. Sewell’s sprawling ancestral plantation. Dunaway Gardens was a theatrical training ground for producers, directors and performers of the arts during the golden years of the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. It was also a popular retreat for locals and celebrities alike, including Walt Disney, who frequented the gardens, and Minnie Pearl, who got her start at Dunaway Gardens.
The gardens, the lighting and the permanent tent facilities were a great backdrop to an emotional day. They had a great live band playing Motown oldies. Their cake was very elegant and suited for the autumnal theme. They left via bubble guns that glowed and lit up in the dark! Molly didn’t know until after the wedding where she and Matt were going for their honeymoon. He surprised her with a city trip to NYC! They saw Broadway shows and the other city sights. We should note that this was one of the only weddings we filmed this year in which the bride and groom did a “First Look.” It is not often that the bride is willing to spend time getting the best photos and video before the ceremony. This kept the vendors from being rushed and made for one of the most stunning films we have made this year. We like First Looks but understand that they are not for everyone.
Molly went to Erskine College and graduated a year after Ashley and I. Matt went to Auburn and later got in touch with Molly through E-Harmony while she was getting her MA at FSU. At this wedding as with many in the past year we enjoyed working with Davey and Marissa of Davey Morgan Photography. Davey and Marissa have a style that is timeless. They do not apply color casting effects through Photoshop actions because they feel their photography stands on it’s own as a fun, documentary style. You can see their work from this wedding here.
