This was a very large wedding at a historic church in Downtown Atlanta, GA. The bride and groom found us because we filmed a wedding Tony was a groomsman in on 1-1-11 for Jimmy Hotz and Amber Funk Hotz. Their trailer is entitled “Two Doctors in Love” because both Arazu and her new husband Tony were medical students at the Medical University of Georgia. The Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception happens to be one of the only structures spared by Sherman when he torched Atlanta during the Civil War. You can visit their wedding information here.
I really liked the cathedral-like stained glass, the large pipe organ and ceiling frescos. The ceremony was traditional Catholic with a crowning ceremony and pious music from their soloist and organist. A perfect complement to the colors of the church were the flowers done by Cathy from the excellent Bloom Floral Design. Arazu & Tony’s reception followed at the Metropolitan Club of Alpharetta, GA. Charter buses from Cooper Transportation ferried guests between Downtown Atlanta and the Club. We are preferred vendors at the Metro Club and enjoy working with their talented staff. The lighting at the club provided nice spotlighting on the dance floor during the first dances. It also spotlighted the cake well which was made by Yolanda Thorn of Publix. Because they are of Lebanese and Persian descent, the bride and groom chose to have traditional Arabian music in sets between dance standards and Top 40 hits. We liked working alongside Liz Yeakle Photography and Sam Brooks. You can see Liz’s work from this wedding here. Sam is a singing DJ from Life of the Party in Greenville, SC. We have seen Sam at a couple weddings in the past year. He always entertains wedding parties and guests with his impressions of Louis Armstrong, and Ray Charles. Sam even teaches guests the Cupid Shuffle in an entertaining way. By the time Sam played the last dance song, Don’t Stop the Music, by Rihanna, sparklers were handed out and the bride and groom were sent off in style.
