Brittany & Jimmy

Brittany Morgan Grooms and James Glenn Rogers were married in high style at 1st Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC. They were married by the well known senior pastor, the Scottsman Rev. Dr. Richard Gibbons. Gibbons can be seen on Upstate television weekly delivering the message from 1st Pres. Their ceremony was a sight to behold. It was a large wedding party and the stained glass looked great, casting colorful shadows on the congregation. They used the enormous pipe organ and also a harpist and talented soloist. Somehow throughout the busy day of photos and visiting the groomsmen, who were all good friends and rabid UF Gators fans, kept pulling out their phones to check the latest football scores. The bridesmaids must have had a great bachelorette party because any chance they got, they were singing “Super Bass” by Nikki Minaj.

The reception that followed was at the grand Westin Poinsett Hotel on Mainstreet. We especially enjoyed taking some shots of the newlyweds on the roof of the historic building. We love filming weddings at the Poinsett because the views from the roof are always good. To the north you can see the rolling hills entering NC and in all other directions you are looking down into the heart of the city. Their live band, The Professors of Soul, provided great ambiance and the hotel staff delivered excellent food and beverages as always. Brittany and Jimmy found us through their wedding coordinator, Alexandra Barham of Upstate I Do. Alexandra had in turn found us through the Wedding Festivals vendor list. Alexandra was a commanding and comforting presence at the wedding. She tempered her demeanor to best suit the atmosphere and tasks at hand. She did a great job wrangling family together for photos in the sanctuary and was stellar at lining up the wedding party for their big introduction at the Gold Ballroom.  This was quite a nice day in Greenville for the wedding party and guests. Every destination a visitor to the city should frequent was visited on this wedding day. There was the rehearsal dinner at Soby’s. Then there was the relaxing outdoor patio bridal luncheon at Mary’s at Falls Cottage adjacent to Falls Park on the Reedy River. The city trollies were used to bus guests between the church and the hotel at dusk. Later the bride and groom departed via a regal horse drawn carriage. We really appreciated working with Mary Kay Kent Photography during this wedding day. Mary Kay is a sweet tempered professional with a keen eye for detail and a variety of different shots.
