April & Nathanael

I had the honor of filming the wedding for one of my best friends on Tuesday, May 22nd. Nathanael Andrew Gentilhomme was married to April Marie Dion at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Greenville, SC. They were married by Pastor Robert Vincent. This was the first time in a while that I filmed a wedding without Ashley as it was during a weekday. I was thankful to have my great friend Davey present from Davey Morgan Photography and Shelly Reed Kuzmic as the wedding coordinator. Everyone involved did a spectacular job orchestrating the reception, to the rehearsal dinner to the wedding to the bachelor party (which I planned). The church recently finished an enormous addition. Nathanael and April were one of the first couple’s to have their reception on the new sweeping staircase and wooden floors of the fellowship wing of the church. The women of the church prepared a dazzling array of chocolate covered strawberries and other mouth watering delicacies.

Nathanael and I were roommates while getting our graduate degrees at Bob Jones University. We have gotten to know each others families well. We were assigned as roommates through a lottery system, but it was providential that we were put together. We both play trumpet, piano, sing and are from New England. Last summer we drove a big Penske truck up to New Hampshire and unpacked all his college stuff into his new farmhouse where all interns stay who work for Trinity Baptist Church.

His bachelor party Monday night was full of wholesome shenanigans in downtown Greenville at Falls Park. Mount Calvary was spectacular as far as accommodating a videographer. I set up five cameras to film the ceremony. They are a large church with a great number of resources and have their own array of HD cameras installed in the walls. I was able to get all of their footage and mix it into what I shot. This was the first wedding where I had 11 camera angles to choose from when editing the ceremony! It was amazing. I loved working with their staff.

April and Nathanael are both musicians. April walked in to Gabriel’s Oboe, the theme from the film “The Mission.” They asked many friends who are professional musicians to be a part of the ceremony and prelude music. For Gabriel’s Oboe, they had a piccolo trumpet and timpani for instrumentation. Other special music included a groomsmen chorus. All of the groomsmen took to the microphones for a song. It was very impressive. We did a photo and video shoot out at Furman University because of the proximity to the church, the school fountains and well groomed gardens. Nathanael’s uniform is that of a commissioned Naval Officer. He will soon be a chaplain serving the United States Navy.
